Tina Knowles doesn’t want her granddaughter to go into show business.
The 71-year-old businesswoman is the mother of global superstar Beyoncé – who has Blue Ivy as well as seven-year-old twins Rumi and Sir with rapper Jay Z.
While her eldest granddaughter has started to carve out a career in entertainment, she is not so keen on the idea of her youngest doing the same.
When asked about the idea of Rumi following in Beyoncé’s, 42, footsteps, she told E! News: ‘Oh, I’m so proud of Rumi. All of my grandchildren, all of them are amazing. But I doubt it. I hope not! I hope she chooses to do something else!’
Previously, she gushed about Rumi’s creativity, saying, ‘Rumi is amazing—an amazing artist, painter and creator’
‘How could they be anything else growing up in that environment?’ she asked, answering her own question with ‘All we talk about is creativity and fashion.’

Rumi recently made music history, appearing on her mom’s Cowboy Carter country album on the track Protector.
The song landed at number 42 on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the youngest woman to hit the chart.
In doing so, Rumi broke big sister Blue Ivy’s record.
Blue Ivy, who appeared on Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour, was featured on Brown Skin Girl in 2019 when she was only seven years old.
Sir is more like his dad, Jay-Z, Knowles said.
‘Sir is very quiet,’ she explained, and ‘does all of the numbers stuff, so he’s not into fashion as much.’
The House of Deréon founder added the young man is ‘very, very smart.’
Tina then revealed that when it comes to her grandson, he has an ‘affinity for books’ and their favorite story to read together is about ‘the smallest tree being the most powerful tree’.

She added: ‘It ends up being the most powerful tree and saving the day, and he loves that book.’
Last year, Tina – who is also mother to singer Solange, 38, with her ex-husband Mathew Knowles – admitted that she ‘truly believes’ that a child’s destiny is a result of how the parent chooses to bring them up.
She told People: ‘I feel like the teenage years are the most difficult, but it will get better and you get what you put in. That’s what I truly believe. The more you put into your kids, the more love and care and support you give them, the more you get out of it.
‘I’ve been so blessed in my life to do many things. I’ve had many careers, but I’ve always said that the best job that I’ve ever had is being a mother.’
Tina also gushed about Blue Ivy, saying: ‘She’s always creating something and working with her hands and her mind. She’s pretty amazing.’

Tina is all about family and shared the emotion she felt when the Single Ladies singer won album of the year at the 2025 Grammy’s for Cowboy Carter.
‘I was at her house,’ Tina recalled on the Jennifer Hudson Show last month.
‘I was there to help she and Blue get ready. I just really was not expecting. I was really, really shocked. So shocked.’
‘In fact,’ she continued, ‘I sat there for a second and didn’t believe it was true.
‘I was sitting there with my granddaughter Rumi and my grandson Sir, and for a second, we were just sitting there. I couldn’t believe it.’
Beyoncé made her own bit of history as the first Black woman to have a number one country hit and album.
