Madonna slams Donald Trump for calling himself ‘a king’ in her latest attack on the President

Madonna took aim at Donald Trump once again, this time blasting the US president for calling himself ‘a king.’

On Thursday, the Queen of Pop took to her Instagram Stories to criticize the two-term president’s comments shared on his social media site Truth Social and Instagram, via The White House page.

Posting a replica of a Time magazine cover with Trump’s name used as the title, the caption read, ‘LONG LIVE THE KING,’ along with an image of the New York City native with a smiling grin while wearing a crown.

For the caption, Trump referenced his administration’s recent order to end the New York congestion charge, that had been put in place to raise funds for Manhattan’s mass transit system.

‘CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!’ he boasted on social media.

Never shy in voicing her critique of Trump, Madonna wrote, ‘I thought this country was built by Europeans, escaping living under the rule of a King, to establish a New World governed by the people.’

Madonna, 66, hit back at US President Donald Trump, 78, and his boast where he likened himself of being ‘a king’ in social media posts this week

The Live To Tell star, 66, added, ‘Currently, we have a president who calls himself our King,’ over a photo of herself sitting in front of an open book, dressed in a black outfit and black-rimmed glasses.

‘If this is a joke, I’m not laughing,’ she concluded in the post.

The seven-time Grammy winner then shared a picture of a doll that had seemingly been cut in half, writing, ‘Current mood,’ at the bottom of the image, in what appears to be another reaction to the ‘king’ comment.

Some of the other celebrities and high-profile people to raise concerns over the President’s post include, horror author Stephen King, pop singer Charlotte Lawrence, TikTok star Lexi Hidalgo, and director and choreographer Christopher Rice-Thompson, according to The Independent.

The New York Times’s Jamelle Bouie called his statement ‘the single most un-American and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an American president.’

On Fox & Friends, said to be a Trump morning show favorite, the talent described his controversial boast as merely ‘making fun’ of Democrats.

Madonna has long been a vocal critic of Trump, 78, dating back to the beginning of his political career in 2015, all the way through to his attempt to regain the presidency this past year.

Among her many tough-talking statements, she urged her fellow US citizens to ‘do the right thing – if you care about basic human rights.’

And then, after learning of his re-election in November, she confessed she cried while hugging her 12-year old twin daughters.

‘I don’t want to let go of our democracy!! Now we will all have to fight even harder to hang onto it,’ she wrote in an Instagram post on November 8.

‘Americans who voted for Trump or didn’t vote at all- showed that many people are OK with a dictatorship to take over,’ she continued in part, while referencing the fight now facing women.

‘The universe is telling us that we have to spend the next four years fighting for our freedom !!!’ she surmised.

‘Be prepared to fight for your freedom. Be prepared to fight for your life! I’m not giving up hope. Are you with Me?’ she concluded the social media post at the time.

Just last month, Madonna blasted the Trump administration for ‘dismantling all the freedoms’ of LGBT+ people, after he issued executive orders directed at transgender, nonbinary and intersex Americans within his first few days in office.

‘It’s so sad to watch our new government slowly dismantling all the freedoms we have been fighting for and WON over the years,’ Madonna wrote, adding a rainbow flag and a broken-hearted emoji.

‘Don’t give up the fight!’ she added.
