The model, who is known for her appearance on a past season of America’s Next Top Model, opened up about her battle with addiction.

Amid her recovery, she shared several past and present photos in her February 9 Instagram post. alongside a lengthy caption explaining why she’s coming clean.

CariDee English, 40, shared glamorous modeling portraits mixed with harrowing photos of her in the hospital during her struggle with addiction.

In one snapshot, she observed her black eye, and another photo showed both of her arms covered with dark, painful bruises.

The fashion model — who previously slammed the hit reality series and criticized Tyra Banks for not supporting the models after filming wrapped —  also included an albeit positive and smiling photo of herself using a walker to stand up after suffering a head injury in 2022.

At the time, she was hospitalized following her relapse when reportedly suffered ‘multiple seizures’ and was experiencing ‘mobility issues.’

The reality TV personality, who won Cycle 7 of the hit competition series in December 2006, admitted in her recent social media post that even though there is ‘shame’ in her past, she is sharing her survival story to shed light on addiction and ‘to keep away my mask.’ 

In her caption, she insinuated that she was marking another year of sobriety amid her recovery journey when she said that her throwback photos were snapped ‘three years ago this week.’

‘Recovery requires rigorous honesty and relentless bravery,’ she began. 

‘We are animals in this kingdom. Coming out to show where you’re wounded is one of the bravest yet unnatural steps to take. Unnatural in the sense that being vulnerable leaves you wide open for attack,’ she wrote.

‘I snort the line of bravery and discrimination in my recovery,’ she added. ‘I won’t speak for others, but I know I’m not alone.’ 

English also opened up about experiencing ‘shame’ with sharing her story and personal struggles online.

She said that anyone who searches her name online will discover her unshakable past and ‘slap [her] with a red flag and never a high-five.’

‘I’m told it tarnishes my reputation, credibility and character,’ she said about being vulnerable and opening up about her battle with addiction.

However, she called it ‘shame after surviving’ and added: ‘So I’m posting my survival story again to keep away my mask. I belong to the misfits, black sheep and the survivors.’ 

She said that shame is ‘an archaic, maladaptive behavior’ but can be ‘rehabilitated.’ 

The model also explained that men tend to ‘stay quiet’ as it is ‘much harder’ for them to ‘come out of the darkness and ask for help.’ 

She added that women who also suffer from addiction are often ‘scarlet shamed.’ 

On that topic, English encouraged addicts to seek help and ‘protect’ each other, adding that ‘wanting more peace is far better than wanting more poison.’

‘I’m braver because of this community. I love you. I choose MORE life, one day at a time. To live gently in my raw skin and face the ghosts in my trauma cameos.’ 

Over a decade ago, English spoke about her time on America’s Next Top Model and admitted the show heavily impacted her mental health. 

In a since-deleted Instagram post from 2012, she wrote: ‘I love what I have made for myself since my win, but mentally, [the show is] horrific.’
