Taylor Swift‘s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn wouldn’t shake off a chance to play 007.
The English actor, 34, who past dated the Grammy-winning artist, 35, for more than six years, was asked by Variety on the red carpet of the 97th Academy Awards if he would be interested into stepping into the shoes of the legendary cinematic character James Bond.
Alwyn was asked, ‘Do you want to play James Bond?’ to which he answered, ‘Oh, wow – who wouldn’t throw their hat in the ring? You know?’
Alwyn then said in jest that he would take the role of the stalwart MI6 agent ‘if you’re offering;’ and as far as preferring his martinis shaken or stirred, the actor said, ‘I like both – I do, I do.’
The part has been vacant since Daniel Craig, 57, exited the franchise in the wake of the 2021 motion picture No Time to Die.
Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who are sister and brother, have since transferred creative control of the character to Amazon MGM Studios.

‘Every time we cast a new actor, the films change … it’s the excitement of a new Bond, a new direction,’ Wilson said, according to People.
Alwyn, who played the role of Harry Lee Van Buren in The Brutalist said that making the feted film was like a dream, and that costar Adrien Brody – who took home his second Best Actor prize Sunday, was ‘amazing to work with.’
‘I’ve been – obviously, like so many people – a fan of his for so long,’ Alwyn said. ‘So to share a scene with him and work with him for that month was really special. And I think he’s just unbelievable in the film.’
After more than six years with the superstar songstress, the pair parted ways in June of 2023.
‘I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six-and-a-half years,’ the actor last summer told The Sunday Times.
He added, That is a hard thing to navigate. What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in.’
