Valerie Bertinelli broke her silence on her split from Mike Goodnough in a gushing Instagram post on Monday.

Nearly half a year after their breakup, she showered him with praise, emphasizing that she is ‘so lucky’ she met him and to have him in her life.

In her Instagram tribute, the 64-year-old actress gave a shoutout to his newsletter, Hoarse Whisperings, and complimented him as a person and a writer calling his prose ‘ridiculously beautiful.’

Alongside her gushy caption, she shared a black-and-white selfie of her cuddled up beside him, resting her head on his shoulder, as well as a screenshot of his Substack newsletter header.

This comes after reports that the pair called off their relationship in November 2024 after 10 months of dating.

Just two weeks earlier, she also said she ‘fumbled the last good man’ following her ‘two failed marriages.’

She was previously married to Tom Vitale from 2011 to 2022. Her first marriage was to the late Eddie Van Halen from 1981 to 2007.

‘I met @therealhoarse in person a year ago today and I am irreversibly changed by him for the better,’ the One Day At A Time star wrote about the writer.

‘I know I am becoming a much stronger and more benevolent human for having met him and spent time with him,’ she continued.

She explained that she was a fan of him as a writer and ‘attracted’ to his work before she even met him in person.

‘It’s heartfelt, authentic, smart, funny, sensitive, caring, and from the soul. And the way he puts words together is just sooo ridiculously beautiful. I’m a big fan, can you tell?’

The two-time Golden Globe winner added: ‘As luck would have it, the human being in person is exactly as heartfelt, authentic, sensitive and caring as his writing.’

‘I feel so lucky to have gotten to know him, and to really see him and soak up his insights,’ she wrote.

‘I value all of our long conversations and they have lead me to interesting and fascinating places I rarely thought to go. I look at life with a different perspective and caring because of my experiences and conversations with him.’

The cookbook author also expressed gratitude to her ex for how he helped her ‘heal’ from her past.

‘And he’s been a big part of helping me heal from some old childhood wounds I never knew what to do with or even where to start.’

Then she asked her followers to subscribe to Goodnough’s Hoarse Whisperings to ‘get the beautiful gift of what it’s like to be in his orbit.

‘Or, as I think he might put it, to pull up a chair and sit at his big table in community and conversation,’ she wrote.
